Java Install
Requires JRE 11 or above!
The platform specific clients come bundled with Java in an effort to make life easier, but if you are having trouble with them or you are using a different system you can always fall back to running the Java client directly using a JRE (Java Runtime Environment) installed on your system.
The way Java programs work is, unlike programs that are compiled to run specifically on certain Operating Systems and hardware (think .exe files on Windows), Java programs (.jar files) are built to be ran on any Operating System and hardware by another program called a Java Runtime Environment. This has the disadvantage of requiring a JRE to be installed, but it means that as long as you have a recent enough version of the JRE installed on your device, you can run all Java programs 🙂
Mirage Realms is a Java program!
Firstly, you will want to make sure you have an appropriate JRE installed. You can find installers for our recommended version of Java on any platform at the website below – I have set the filter to Windows, but you can change it to whatever Operating System / Platform you like to find the right JRE for you:
1. Java Runtime Environment 21
Once you have the above JRE installed, it should simply be a case of downloading the Mirage Realms Java Client and double clicking it!
