Hi all,
As promised here is the rapid followup to build 15.
Changes
- Emberton NPCs are now level 25
- Trolls and Spiders are now all defaulted to level 10
- Added /npc command
- Only available on PTR
- Allows you to summon 1 monster at a time
- Can summon any hostile monster, at any level
- Only spiders and several troll variants exist right now
- Summons do not respawn
- Summons despawn if your player entity leaves the game
- Fixed disconnect on checking NPC resistances
- Fixed disconnect on a bald player dying
- Fixed a blocked sqm in the Carlislian Fields
The /npc command
I wanted to get this released ASAP, but I also wanted it to be totally scripted (which it is, yay). This command will allow you to test the game balance against any level monster of your choosing and should be instrumental in helping us tweak balance and make things as fun as possible as development progresses.
It is worth noting that the game does not know how to generate equipment for below level 10 at this time, so fighting monsters lower than level 10 when you are not level 10 will be absolutely brutal.
What’s next?
A quick glance at the dev tracker trello tells me I am looking at the following for next release:
- Look into PVP damage
- Script the ember guards to face their spawn direction when they return to their post
- Script the NPC guards to walk back to their post when they respawn
- /mastery command to set your mastery levels
- /magic command to set your magic levels
- /nexus command to make it easy to go anywhere in the realm
- /nourishment command to set your nourishment
- /hp command to set your current health
As as you can probably tell from looking at that list, the next PTR release will mostly be about expanding the sandbox commands to enable you guys to have complete control when testing things going forwards, and adding the first script hooks for NPC behaviour. There are a number of things that have been noticed as needing improvement on the PTR already (player speed, npcs should push players (and other npcs) in some situations…), and I look forwards to actively tackling this stuff once more of the core stuff has been taken care of. For now, we stick to the plan (that you can find on the dev tracker)!
I welcome any and all balance feedback via Discord in #ptr-discussion.
